The Why at the center of the golden circle

Ideas move me. They may have no practical applications at times. Still, they can be all-consuming and so immersive that I can forget to eat, sleep or do anything else. And even though they may have no tangible value, understanding them and breaking them down in bite-sized chunks that can be easily digested gives me great satisfaction and a sense of having done something.

Recently I find myself exploring and seeing out new ideas far lesser than I once did. I thought I could get away with it as it did not add any value to my day-to-day activities or job, and I wanted to zone out in my free time, but it looks like I am in a bind. Not seeking out new concepts to analyze and understand has left a void somewhere deep within. Nothing else seems to replace it. Without learning new ideas, I feel like a broken record playing the same old loop repeatedly.

Einstein once said, “Never regard study as a duty but as an enviable opportunity to learn to know the liberating influence of beauty in the realm of the spirit for your own personal joy and to the profit of the community to which your later works belong.” I want to reignite that joy within and seek out ideas and have the aha moments. I want to be fascinated and moved by how much I do not know.

But that is not enough!

One of the main reasons I stopped was because I do not have many people in my inner circles to discuss these concepts. As I found out the hard way, not everyone finds joy and inner peace in understanding abstract concepts. But I refuse to believe that I am the only one who gets fascinated by seemingly trivial things such as “Why We Do, What We Do,” or something complex like “How does gravity work?” Maybe these are the first two things I would like to write about!

So here I am, baring my naked brains discussing ideas that I only partially grasp, hoping that these fascinate someone out there as much as they fascinate me.

A little about me

My name is Anurag. I live in Bangalore, India. I studied engineering at IIT Bombay and studied management at IIM Bangalore. I have worked in various domains, leveraging technology for marketing, customer experience, customer engagement, AI, Automation, and IoT.

I enjoyed my work immensely. Still, I couldn’t let go of this nagging feeling that I want to explore more, try out other things, explore and build something of my own. So one fine day, I decided to head out on my own and try all the things I have always wanted to do. It is the scariest thing I have ever done, and I hope I have to never look back.

Other than chasing after crazy concepts with no regard to the status quo, I like to immerse myself in stories every now and then, travel at every chance I get, and enjoy a basketball game.
